The main theme of this year’s event is how to join the excellence and equality agendas in science as a strategic response to ensuring the full realization of the research and innovation potential in Europe. The European Gender Summit offers an influential knowledge-sharing platform where stakeholders from science, industry and policy can discuss and exchange the most recent evidence and agree on the best actions for advancing science through the inclusion of the gender dimension in research and in innovation.The two day event is comprised of three main parts:
- Presentations by distinguished speakers from a range of sectors, backgrounds and disciplines, to be held at the European Parliament;
- Cafés Scientifiques in which delegates will come together to define new advocacy approaches for promoting gender equality in science; and
- The European Gender Summit Networking Event where delegates and speakers will have a range of networking opportunities and view the best videos submitted as part of the competition Science: It’s Your Thing!

If you are in Brussels of the morning of the 29 Nov before the Summit begins, VINNOVA have invited the European Gender Summit participants to attend the launch party of their new research anthology "Promoting innovation ‒ a research anthology on gender perspective in innovation research" between 9.30 – 11 am, 29 Nov 2012. The event is free but requires registration here.
